Chin & Cheek Implants

Mentoplasty (chin surgery) is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin by either augmenting or reducing it. Mentoplasty is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty (nose surgery).

Candidates for mentoplasty typically have a weak chin and/or prominent nose, or a prominent jaw.

A well-defined chin helps to give balance to the face and creates a major part of your profile.  Mentoplasty, or chin augmentation, is used to enhance the profile and/or facial contours.

Mentoplasty
Procedure

mentoplasty is performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Depending on the amount of skin and fat that are removed, patients are able to return home the same day.

Recovery

Compression garments are worn to limit swelling. The results of mentoplasty are visible right away, but become more apparent as swelling and bruising subsides.

Risks

In addition to the risks associated with any surgery, those related to mentoplasty depend on which procedure you do. You will discuss them with your surgeon.
