The market for injectable fillers is growing, as more and more people are turning to non-surgical methods to counteract the effects of aging on their appearance. While the anti-wrinkle pharmaceutical Botox® is a popular option, there are many other alternatives to choose from when selecting a treatment to reduce fine lines and smooth away facial creases.
EACH BOTOX ALTERNATIVE HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE FEATURES AND BENEFITS, WHICH WE HAVE OUTLINED HERE TO HELP YOU DETERMINE WHICH VARIATION BEST SUITS YOUR PARTICULAR NEEDS:
Juvéderm®
Juvéderm is available in several forms, namely, Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Volbella, Juvéderm Voluma and Juvéderm Vollure. Each contain hyaluronic acid, a sugar-based substance found naturally in the body, which serves to maintain hydration and act as a cushioning agent for the skin. Once injected, this gel restores a level of fullness to areas of the face beset by moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Though its effects are not permanent, results typically last longer than similar treatments, ranging from 12 to 18 months on average. Side effects are minimal and generally include minor swelling or bruising, which subsides quickly. Most forms of Juvéderm are available in XC, which contains lidocaine to numb any slight discomfort at the injection site. A topical anesthetic may be requested by patients as well.
Radiesse®
Radiesse is designed to stimulate the skin’s natural collagen supply, thus reducing wrinkles, folds and creases found around the nose and mouth. This synthetic filler, comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite, can also be used on other areas of the body, and is often employed to fill impressions left behind by scars.

Restylane® & Restylane® Lyft
Restylane and Restylane Lyft are popular choices for those with allergies to other, synthetic substances. Both contain nothing of animal origin and are typically used to smooth the glabellar lines, which tend to form between the eyebrows, as well as the nasolabial folds, which run from the nose to lip area. Restylane is also FDA-approved for enhancing lips.

Kybella®
Kybella is used to break down the fatty tissue found below the jawline, commonly known as a “double chin.” When injected, targeted fat cells are gradually dissolved and eventually reabsorbed into the body, where they can no longer store or accumulate fat. As such, no additional treatments are necessary once you achieve the desired result.

Important Tips
It is important to consult with a board certified cosmetic surgeon prior to undergoing any injectable treatments. You should review your personal medical history, expectations and any potential complications that may arise at that time.
