Preparing for Your Procedure
All patients experience a degree of anxiety prior to surgery. It’s only natural. The most important preparation you can do is to ask any question, of anyone, at any time. Knowledge and confidence go hand-in-hand.
Before surgery, you will be provided detailed information on how to prepare. Specific to procedure and patient, the doctor’s advice helps your body get ready for change. It is very important to follow your prep-regimen for it’s the foundation to a successful outcome.
Post Operative Care and Recovery
Depending upon the procedure, healing and recovery times differ. There will be follow-up visits to remove bandages & sutures, change dressings and monitor progress.
Healing takes lots energy because the systems of the body rally to adjust to the changes made by surgery. The most important factor is rest and limited activity.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, healing can take from a few days to several weeks. You may experience minor discomfort and inflammation, which is usually managed through oral medication. As always, your doctor will provide specific guidance and advice while you heal and recover.
