Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, or mammoplasty, surgically enhances the size and shape of the breasts. Breast augmentation is a tremendous help to patients who desire a fuller profile, who have lost breast volume because of pregnancy or nursing, or who have undergone breast reconstruction and want to restore a more natural look. Our Long Island location offers services that far exceed industry standards for breast augmentation procedures.
Reasons to Consider Breast Augmentation
- Enhance bust size.
- Restore breast volume after pregnancy, nursing or weight loss.
- Equalize a difference in breast size to achieve symmetry.
- Reconstruct breasts following a mastectomy or trauma.
Breast Augmentation Procedure
At Cosmetic Surgery of New York, Long Island’s leading plastic and cosmetic surgery practice, breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia an outpatient basis. The procedure requires a small incision to insert the implant behind breast tissue. There are several possible locations to place the incision and many sizes, shapes and types of implants. The most common are textured silicone shells filled with sterile saline solution, though silicone gel implants are also available. The best location and type of implant will be decided by the patient and the surgeon during the consultation.
If you already have had breast augmentation and are not totally satisfied, you may want to consider the Continued Access Reconstruction / Revision Expansion (CARE) Clinical Study. Limited compensation will be provided for each office visit, starting at $100 per visit, increasing to $200 in the 10th year. Participants are responsible for all other fees. Preparation & Post Operative Care For Breast Augmentation
All patients experience a degree of anxiety prior to surgery. It’s only natural. The most important preparation you can do is to ask any question, of anyone, at any time. Knowledge and confidence go hand-in-hand.
Before surgery, you will be provided detailed information on how to prepare. Specific to procedure and patient, the doctor’s advice helps your body get ready for change. It is very important to follow your prep-regimen for it’s the foundation to a successful outcome.
Post Operative Care and Recovery
Bandages are applied to the incisions, and a surgical support is worn around the clock for several weeks. Patients occasionally report minor pain which is effectively treated with oral medication.
