Body Lift – Pros And Cons
A body lift, or belt lipectomy, raises and reshapes sagging body contours. Aging and significant weight loss cause skin to loose elasticity, causing the midriff to lose natural shape and firmness. A body lift removes loose skin and excess fat to provide a trimmer appearance. A body lift can be applied to the lower torso and upper legs, the abdomen, waist, inner/outer thighs, buttocks, and hips. Liposuction may also be performed along with a body lift. If you’ve worked hard to experience significant weight loss, a body lift will finish the job you started, and you’ll look great when summer rolls around.
Reasons to Consider a Body Lift
- Reshape mid-body contour.
- Remove sagging skin and fat due to aging or excessive weight loss.
- Remedy weight gain and stretched skin caused by pregnancy.
General Procedure
Procedures vary for each patient depending on body type and desired outcome. Performed under general anesthesia, a body lift requires an incision to follow the contour of the area to be treated – upper and inner thighs, waistline, buttocks and lower back. Excess skin and underlying fat tissue are removed, and remaining skin is tightened and sutured into place to create a slimmer, trimmer look. A body lift usually takes less than 3 hours, depending on the extent of areas treated.
